Isla Mae

Leeds/Cambridge

Isla Mae is a 19-year-old Leeds and Cambridge based singer-songwriter currently studying for an Actor Musician degree. Often compared to Raye, Lily Allen, Lucy Spraggan, Billie Eilish, KT Tunstall and Phoebe Bridgers, her music deliberately explores and combines multiple genres including Pop, Indie, Folk, Jazz and Soul. Through the release of her first three EPs - “Dancing under a Pseudonym”, “Halfway to the Sun” and “Some Form of Art” – Isla has gained a reputation for impressing with mature lyrics that either share powerful personal reflections or turn day to day observations into fictional stories. Two of her songs - "A letter to the Moon" and "Beautiful People" – featured on Spotify's Fresh Finds Folk editorial playlist in the summer of 2024. Isla Mae’s credits to date include being named a UK/Ireland Top 5 Finalist in Song Academy's Young Songwriter Competition, Cambridge Band Competition’s Best Acoustic Act, Crags Radio Unsigned Music Awards 2025 Single of the Year winner, This is the Music Top 20 EP 2025, a Top 5 nominee in the Female Solo category of the New Music Generator Awards and a nominee in the Breakthrough Artist category of the Radio Wigwam Awards. Isla’s performance highlights include solo acoustic sets at Camp Bestival, Cambridge Club Festival and on the main stage at Ely Folk Festival and she can occasionally be spotted gigging with a full band at events such as the Fiver night at the Cambridge Junction or New Music Showcase at Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds.
