About these terms

Leeds Gig Guide (leedsgigguide.com) is a free, non-profit guide to live music in Leeds, run by Not a thing. CIC (company number 15685867, registered in England and Wales). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and is part of these terms.

The listings

We gather gig details from public sources (venues, promoters, ticket sellers, artists, posters and social media) and from people who send them to us, and a member of our team checks each listing before it is published. Even so, dates, times, line-ups and venues change, gigs get cancelled, and we make mistakes. Please check with the venue or ticket seller before you travel or buy a ticket.

We do not sell tickets. Ticket links take you to other companies’ websites, with their own terms. Any purchase is between you and them, and we are not responsible for their websites, their tickets, or gigs that are cancelled or changed.

Listing a gig does not mean we are connected to, or endorse, the venue, promoter or artist, and their names and logos belong to them.

Posters, images and other people’s content

Posters, logos, photographs and text about gigs belong to the people who made them. We show them to promote the gigs they advertise, which is what they were published for. If you own something on the site and want it removed, corrected or credited, email [email protected] and we will sort it out quickly.

Using what we publish

You are welcome to share links to the site, take screenshots of listings, and quote what is on for personal, non-commercial use, ideally with a link back. If you would like to reuse the listings in bulk, or in another product or service, ask us first. We are a non-profit and we usually say yes.

Accounts and claiming a page

Anyone can make an account. With one you can write a review or promo, use Opportunities, and claim your page if you are a venue, artist or promoter. If you claim a page you confirm that you are, or are authorised to act for, the venue, act or promoter it describes. Each page has one owner. We check claims before approving them, and we can remove ownership, undo changes or close an account if we believe a claim was false or an account is being misused.

Keep your sign-in details private and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You must be at least 16 to hold an account.

Anything you add to your page must be accurate, yours to use (or used with permission), and lawful. Do not add anything offensive or misleading, or anything that impersonates someone else. You give us permission to show what you add on the site, in our social media posts and in the guide images we publish, for as long as it is on your page. Our team can edit any page and may correct or remove content.

To close your account, email us. Your ownership of any page ends when the account closes.

Reviews and promos

Anyone with an account can write about a gig on the guide: a promo before the gig, or a review after it. Someone on our team reads every post before it goes up, and can publish it, ask you to change something, or turn it down. If you edit a post once it is up, it comes off the site until we have read it again.

What you write must be your own, honest and accurate, and any photos must be yours or used with permission. Do not post anything offensive, misleading or unlawful, anything untrue about a person or business, or anything that impersonates someone else. If you are involved in the gig (you play in it, promote it or work on it), say so in the post.

Your post appears under the name on your account. You keep the rights to what you write and the photos you add. You give us permission to show them on the site and in our social media posts, for as long as the post is on the site. On the site, a post can appear on the gig’s page, the reviews page and the page of any artist, venue or promoter that features it. We can edit a post, and we can take one down at any time, for example if it breaks these terms.

While a post is waiting for us you can withdraw it, and you can delete any post that has not gone up. To take down a post that is already up, email [email protected]. If you think a post is wrong or unfair, use the report link on it or email us.

Telling us about a missing gig

Anyone with an account can send us a gig the guide is missing. It must be a real gig, and the details must be right as far as you know. A person checks every gig before it goes up, and we decide whether to list it. You can send ten gigs a day.

Promoters and their gigs

If you run a promoter page, you can change the gigs your promoter is on: the poster, the name of the night, who is playing, the times, the ticket and info links, and a few lines about the gig. Changes go on the guide when you save. Our team changes a gig’s date or venue: tell us with “Moved?” on the gig. “Gig cancelled?” takes a gig off the guide straight away.

What you add must be accurate, and posters and photos must be yours to use or used with permission. Do not add anything offensive, misleading or unlawful. We record every change, and our team can change or undo anything, take a gig off the guide, or stop you changing gigs if these terms are broken.

For a gig with no promoter on it, press “This is my gig” on its page. We check every request before we add your promoter.

You can also add gigs of your own, up to 20 a day. A gig you add goes on the guide when you save it, with your promoter on it, unless its venue is not on the guide’s list for that month, when our team checks it first. Our team can change a gig you add, join it to another listing of the same gig, or take it off.

Opportunities

Anyone with an account can post an opportunity (looking for artists to fill a gig) or apply to one with an artist page they run. We check a person’s first opportunity before it goes on the board; after that, theirs go straight up. You can put up five new opportunities a day. What you post must be genuine and accurate, and a picture you add (or one we copy from a link you paste) must be one you are allowed to use. We can reject an opportunity before it goes up, or take one down afterwards, and we tell anyone still waiting for an answer if we do.

Once you apply, it is between you and whoever posted it to sort out the details between yourselves; we are not part of that arrangement and are not responsible for it. If you would like something removed, or want to report an opportunity, email [email protected], or use the “Report this” link on the opportunity itself.

A promoter who runs their page on the guide can also take applications all year through their own “Looking for artists” form. Applying works the same way, with your artist page. If the promoter says they are interested, we give you their email address, and anything after that is between you.

Anyone with an account can also pin a notice to the board, for example looking for gigs, a band or a player. You can have three up at once, and each stays up for six weeks unless you keep it up. When someone replies, you get their note and contact details and they get yours; anything after that is between you, and we are not part of it. We check a person’s first notice before it goes up, and can take a notice down.

A Crew page can credit itself on a gig or a release it worked on. Credits must be true: anyone can report one and we take down any that are not.

We keep an application for twelve months after the gig it was for, or, for a promoter’s own form, twelve months after it was sent. You can save a search as an email alert, and every alert email lets you stop it in one click.

Fair use of the site

Do not try to break into the site, overload it, interfere with other people’s use of it, or copy it at a rate that disrupts it. Do not make a claim on a page that is not yours.

Availability and liability

The site is free and provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available or free of errors, and we may change or withdraw any part of it. To the extent the law allows, Not a thing. CIC is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or from relying on a listing, including the cost of tickets or travel for a gig that was changed or cancelled. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes and the law

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
