Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen

Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen

1-1a Cross Belgrave St, LS2 8JP

About this venue

Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen is a music, art, film and food venue spread over three floors on Cross Belgrave Street, with a roof terrace. The building was put up in the 1930s as a nursery school for the children of working families in Leeds. It opened as Belgrave in 2013 after years of neglect.

The performance space is on the first floor. It has its own bar, PA and lighting, and holds 350 standing or 100 seated in rows. As well as gigs, Belgrave puts on comedy, film and art exhibitions. Its two kitchens, on the bar and food floor, serve Dough Boys pizza by the slice and Patty's burgers. Doors for evening events are usually at 7.30pm.

There are 22 steps up to the performance space, so it isn't step free. The main entrance has six steps, with a step-free side door next to it. There are accessible toilets outside the performance space and on the bar and food floor. Belgrave offers PA tickets and welcomes assistance dogs. It's a Check 25 venue, and the only ID it accepts is a UK driving licence (full or provisional) or a passport.

Leeds station is about 0.6 miles away and the bus station about 0.4 miles. The nearest bus stop is on New Briggate, about 90 metres from the door. There's no parking at the venue. The nearest car park is at the Merrion Centre, which has accessible spaces, and there are blue badge spaces on Belgrave Street.
