About this venue

Stylus is a gig and club venue inside Leeds University Union, on the University of Leeds campus. It holds over 1,000 standing and is used for gigs, larger club nights, performances and showcases. The union has put on nights since 1967, and its stages have hosted Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, The Clash, The Killers and Queens of the Stone Age. It's not-for-profit, and the money it makes goes back into the union's work for students.

Age limits vary and are shown when you buy a ticket. Most gigs are 5+, and under 14s must come with an adult. The bars and cloakroom are card only, there's no re-entry, and staff will give you ear plugs if you ask. Strobe and other flashing effects are used as standard.

The union building has step-free access, with ramps or lifts to every level. Each venue has an accessible gender-neutral toilet, a lowered bar and an accessible viewing area, with space for four wheelchairs. There's a Changing Places room with a hoist, shower and bed. Accessible customers get one free companion ticket, and the union holds Attitude is Everything's Bronze award. It can arrange hearing support if you ask in advance, and Stylus has sensory bags and a quiet space.

The campus is about a mile from Leeds station. Parking nearby is on-street and very limited, but there are up to six blue badge spaces close to the union entrance. The nearest drop-off point is the corner of Lifton Place and Cromer Terrace, and there are bike racks outside the building.
