About this venue

The Key Club is an alternative venue and club below ground in the Merrion Centre, next door to Jumbo Records. It opened in 2014 and puts on gigs and club nights across rock, pop-punk, alt-rock, metal, ska, indie, pop, hip-hop and R&B. Don Broco, Beartooth, You Me At Six, Idles, The Xcerts, While She Sleeps and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes have all played here. It holds 300 for gigs.

Most gigs are 14+, and under 14s must come with an adult who also has a ticket. Club nights are strictly 18+. There's no box office at the venue, and tickets are sold at Jumbo Records next door.

The main entrance is 26 steps down. There's also a step-free entrance: email the venue beforehand, or ask the door staff when you arrive. Stools are available on request in a raised seating area reached by a ramp, and the venue offers priority entry and a free personal assistant ticket. The one accessible toilet uses a RADAR key and is also the gender neutral toilet. There's no lowered bar and no hearing loop or other audio support, and strobe lighting is used often.

The Key Club is about half a mile from Leeds station and 0.6 miles from the coach station. It has no parking of its own. The nearest car park is the Q-Park at the St John's Centre on Merrion Street, which has four disabled spaces.
