About this venue

Wharf Chambers is a bar and venue in the centre of Leeds, run by a workers' co-op together with a members' club. It's a not-for-profit space for music, art, film, politics and discussion, and the members programme all of the events, so the nights cover a wide range. It's on the ground floor of a Victorian former pork pie factory on Wharf Street, on the edge of The Calls near the back of the Corn Exchange.

You need to be a member, or a member's guest, to get in. Membership costs £2 a year or £15 for life, and each member can bring up to three guests. As well as the bar room and the events space there's a beer garden. The free Radical Lending Library has books on race, gender, sexuality, queerness, class and radical politics. The venue works to a safer spaces agreement.

The front door is up steps from the street, and there's a ramped, wheelchair accessible back door down the sloped, cobbled alley to its left. The stage has a permanent ramp, and so does the 25cm step down to the dancefloor. The toilets are gender neutral, with one wheelchair accessible cubicle that has a baby changer, and there's a permanent hearing loop at the far end of the bar.

The central bus station is about three minutes' walk away and Leeds station about ten. There's one parking space at the venue, often taken by performers' transport in the evening, so ring ahead if you need it. The street parking nearby is metered until 10pm.
