About this venue

The Cardigan Arms is a Grade II listed Victorian pub on Kirkstall Road in Burley, opposite the McDonald's. It was built in the 1890s and named after the Earl of Cardigan, who owned much of the land around Burley and Headingley. Kirkstall Brewery, which runs it, has restored it, and CAMRA rates its interior as of outstanding national historic importance, with its ornate original features, central bar and vaults.

Events happen in the upstairs function room, the Harmonic Room, from local and touring music to arts, quizzes, films and theatre. The bar has seventeen beer lines, and the kitchen does bar snacks, burgers, hot dogs, flatbreads and loaded fries, with roasts on Sundays. Children are allowed until 9pm, and the pub is dog friendly.

The main entrance has two steps, and the side entrance has one small step where staff can help. All the ground floor rooms and the accessible toilet are step free, but the function room is up an open staircase, and there's no hearing loop. Burley Park station is about 700 metres away, and the nearest bus routes are about 30 metres from the pub.
